Tonsley Golf Society - Winter Tour 2012

2012 brings the first tour for the Tonsley Golf Society since the tour of 2010. And a new venue!

The event will straddle the weekend of 4th - 5th February and will be held at The Wiltshire in, er, Wiltshire.

Two rounds will be played across a mixture of fourballs and playing stableford formats with big prizes at stake for the winners.

In 2012, the Wiltshire will host the team of 20 in a fantastic winter package. And, of course, it's all neatly scheduled around the weekend's Six Nations games!

2010's Angels and Devils

There is, of course, threat of some 'inclement' weather. Pack wisely and be prepared for the Sunday competition to turn into bunker-based-snowball-warfare.
The Tonsley Cup 2012
The Tonsley Cup is a matchplay competition which will loosely follow a Ryder Cup format.
Saturday we will play ‘singles’ where there will be two matches in each fourball.
Sunday we will play ‘fourballs’, where each hole is won by the team whose individual golfer has the lowest score. Handicaps will be taken into account.
On Saturday, we are playing the "Lakes" Course. On Sunday, we are playing the 9-hole "Garden" Course twice-over (it has two tee's for each hole).
All players have been designated a team, Floody and Woolfy’s guests are playing in the Angels team (captained by Floody) and Rob and Joe’s guests are playing in the Devils team (captained by Rob).

Get in the Hole Challenge Trophy 2012

Whilst the emphasis will be on the team competition, there will be also be an individual competition which will run over both Saturday and Sunday rounds based on a combined ‘stableford’ score.

In some cases a player might lose a hole in matchplay for the team competition, but can still gain stableford points for the individual competition – therefore it's important to ‘hole out’ on each hole to avoid losing valuable points.
Longest Drive and Nearest the Pin Competitions

Scorecards will be provided, although this year players will also be treated to the Tonsley ‘live score’ system, where the scores of all players can be monitored around the course at any given moment.

We will also be running the Longest Drive and the Nearest the Pin competitions on each day. Prizes will be awarded for all competitions.
