Berlin 2011

1989 – the Wall came down.
1991 – the reunification of Germany.
2006 – the FIFA World Cup Final.
2011 – the Tonsley Time Team come to town to see what all the fuss was about.

From the Reishstag to the Brandenburg Gate and Hitler’s Bunker, Museum Island and the Kurfurstendamm through to the sites surrounding the Berlin Wall, Checkpoint Charlie and the Fernsehturm, TTT’s latest excursion into the historical archives of Europe takes the team to Berlin. Over the course of a long weekend, we will be learning more about how the Nazis came to power, their subsequent downfall and the advent of the Cold War.

And of course - in time honored tradition - a couple of nights to reflect on it all by getting stuck into the local night life and sampling the local hooch. Please note: anyone seeking to sample other aspects of Berlin’s apparent nightlife are referred to Corin.

Being the month of January the weather will likely (well, apparently) add extra ‘atmosphere’ to the tour - it’ll be freezing. Tourists are encouraged to be suitably attired. Of course, those of you looking to go the extra mile may want to dig out old stonewashed jackets, drain-pipe jeans, Birkenstocks (socks are advised) and do as the natives do. If you’re a) currently from the South West of the UK and / or b) remember Woolfy's denim jacket (complete with advertising logo’s) circa 1991, you’ll be of a suitable constitution to deal with such extremities.
